Experience the festivities when Caltrain’s annual Holiday Train, presented by Silicon Valley Community Foundation, comes to town December 7th and 8th. A special Caltrain decorated with more than 60,000 lights will stop at selected stations to present a free show. There’ll be music, and Santa, Frosty and the gang will greet kids – and parents too. Bring your camera and a new, unwrapped toy donation in support of the Salvation Army and the Marine Corps Reserve’s “Toys for Tots” programs. Visit www.holiday-train.org for event details.
Thursday, December 12th | Lake Merritt United Methodist Church, Oakland
Oakland Raider cornerback, Chimdi Chekwa, has joined First Place For Youth, a non-profit organization dedicated to serving former foster youth, to help make holiday wishes come true. Chekwa will be donating gifts and speaking to the organization at the First Place For Youth annual holiday event held on Thursday, Dec. 12th from 4pm-7pm at the Lake Merritt United Methodist Church located at 1330 Lakeshore Ave. in Oakland.
The event provides a holiday experience for foster youth that consists of a holiday themed meal, entertainment, arts and crafts, along with gift donations from sponsors and the Oakland community. The youth will also be hosting a fashion and talent show for guests to enjoy, which involves Chekwa.
Contributions are greatly appreciated. Some of the items needed are gifts and raffle prizes for youth and childen (i.e. toys for kids aged 0-8, electronics, household items, toiletries/hygiene supplies, gift cards, etc.). Donation items can be dropped off at First Steps Community Resource Center located at 1601 Telegraph Ave. in Oakland, between the hours of 10am-6pm Monday-Friday.
