Beast Mode serving up Soul Food!
Marshawn Lynch becomes the new owner of a local soul food restaurant
Raiders running back Marshawn Lynch is purchasing a restaurant in Emeryville. “Scend’s Restaurant” features classic soul food and has been a staple in the Emeryville/Oakland area since the late 60’s. Lynch purchased the restaurant after 79-year-old owner, Cassie Nickelson, decided to hang up the pots and pans.
According to Eater SF, Lynch became a customer of Nickelson at the age of nine, buying hamburgers and french fries, when she ran her catering business from her apartment.
The restaurant features a wide variety of dishes, including seafood, chicken and classic southern sides such as, macaroni and cheese, red beans and rice and yams. Scend’s also claims to have the best fried chicken wings on the planet, and from the looks of the pictures on Yelp, I bet they’re pretty tasty! Check out this tweet from KTVU, who recently did a feature on the restaurant.

No word yet if Lynch will make any major changes to the menu or the restaurant itself, but we will be sure to check it for a future episode of The Sports Dish.
