Raiders Sign TE Jared Cook

ALAMEDA, Calif. – The Oakland Raiders have signed unrestricted free agent TE Jared Cook, the club announced Thursday.

Cook joins the Raiders after spending the 2016 season as a member of the Green Bay Packers. Prior to his season in Green Bay, he played for the Tennessee Titans from 2009-12 and the St. Louis Rams from 2013-15. Cook has played in 117 games with 47 starts, totaling 303 receptions for 3,880 yards (12.8 avg.) with 17 touchdowns over his eight-year career.

Originally entering the league as a third-round selection (89th overall) by the Titans in the 2009 NFL Draft, Cook has recorded at least 35 receptions in five of the last six seasons. He also ranks third among NFL tight ends with a 12.8 receiving average since entering the league.

Last season, the 6-foot-5, 254-pounder appeared in 10 games with five starts for the Packers, recording 30 receptions for 377 yards (12.6 avg.) with one touchdown. Cook played in all three postseason games, recording 229 yards on 18 receptions (12.7 avg.) with two touchdowns.

A native of Birmingham, Ala., Cook played in 37 games with 14 starts as a three-year letterman at South Carolina from 2006-08. Over his collegiate career, he recorded 73 catches for 1,107 yards (15.2 avg.) with seven touchdowns, and earned All-SEC First Team honors as junior in 2008.
