With the Raiders skidding to the finish line and the 49ers surging through a four-game win streak, Michael Lombardi, a former NFL exec and current host of “GM Street” on “The Ringer NFL Show,” joined “The Greg Papa Show” with Bonta Hill to discuss an assortment of football topics.

Most notably, Lombardi redoubled his argument that Jimmy Garoppolo is the superior quarterback to Derek Carr.

“I think it’s pretty obvious,” Lombardi told Bonta and Mychael Urban who was in for Papa.

“I think Jimmy gets rid of the ball,” Lombardi continued on 95.7 The Game. “He throws it down the field. I think Derek has to do a better job of holding the ball to the last second and making the team better.”

Lombardi said Carr’s more lucrative price tag — he’s playing on a $125-million pact — doesn’t make him better than Garoppolo.

“I think the challenge for the Raiders is they’ve got a huge investment in making this young man a better player or living up to the dollar amount that they gave him. Garoppolo’s in the perfect situation with the perfect coach in the perfect offense that fits him and his skill set perfectly.

“So, for me, I haven’t really changed my mind on this thing. If you were to ask me at the 2014 draft, did I like Carr or Garoppolo better? I would have picked Garoppolo.”
