After Jimmy Garoppolo became the first 49ers quarterback since Jeff Garcia in 2000 to deliver back-to-back 300-plus yard games, the ex-Niner joined “Mornings W/ Joe, Lo and Dibs” on Monday to discuss the new face of the franchise.

Asked if it’s a viable option for the 49ers to dole out the Derek Carr contract — five years, $125 million — to Jimmy G, Garcia said it’s not out of the question.

“I don’t think it’s unreasonable,” Garcia told Joe Fortenbaugh, Lorenzo Neal and Dan Dibley, noting that Garoppolo has thrived while guiding a young club that is still growing.

“I don’t see how you can’t pay this guy going into the offseason,” Garcia continued on 95.7 The Game.

“I think you lock him in. Santa brought an early Christmas gift to the 49ers in Jimmy Garoppolo. He answered their quarterback question for the future.”
