Another Sunday, another loss as 49ers offer no help for Beathard

49ers fall to 0-9 with 20-10 defeat to the Cardinals in Santa Clara

When a team like the San Francisco 49ers makes it to November without a win, you start to watch the effort of players to see if they’ve quit on their coach.

Well, the effort and will to finally experience what a victory feels like shines bright through this team, but the 49ers are just devoid of talent. It was evident again in their 20-10 loss to the Drew Stanton led Arizona Cardinals.

The 49ers are now 0-9 — the worst start in franchise history — and the countdown is on. Could this storied club really go 0-16? Well, if they don’t beat the 1-7 New York Giants next Sunday, then you’ll really have to wonder if they’ll finish this season without a win.

C.J. Beathard is a rookie who has played valiantly, but after the season his body will have taken five seasons worth of punishment.

The average fan wants to subject Jimmy Garoppolo to this 49ers patchwork offensive line, which makes no sense considering Beathard took 16 hits and was sacked four times.

The hits were vicious. Bone-shattering to be perfectly clear.

If ESPN Insider Adam Schefter’s report is true that the 49ers aren’t married to Garoppolo, why risk getting him hurt?

Add that to the fact the 49ers have the worst receiving core in football, one that leads the league with 27 dropped passes — tops in the NFL — who is Garoppolo going to throw to?

It’s amazing that Beathard threw for 294 yards — a career high — behind this offensive line. He’ll need to relax in a hot tub for two days. He was whacked around that much. Sheesh...

But there’s not much to write here other than the fact that C.J. Beathard has stones, Garoppolo chilled on the sideline with no helmet on, DeForest Buckner continues to be a force, and the 2017 49ers are still winless.

That about sums up this Sunday in Santa Clara.
